Techno techno TECHNO TRIBE,
We are learning machines!!! We are into our tired week of writing narratives but we can only use 100 words, that's right 100 words. We are learning the value of every words and not to edit all those fabulous juicy words that make our writing so Delicious!

Maths is invested in PLACE VALUE, even in to tenths and hundredths (fractions are such amazing parts of number learning! On a side note our basic facts instant knowledge is growing and improving all the time!!!

To link into our writing we have been looking at the layout of a narrative and how to summarise a long text into fewer words. This skill has been challenging but now we are really getting into this exciting part of our learning.

Wow what a week!

What an amazing first week Techno Tribe,

Our revision of our brand and class treaty has allowed everyone to look at our expectations, establish new goals and look at our place of learning in a new light!

Our new goals are all set to get us to where we want to be this term. These are soon to be published!

We have settled into our learning well. It is great to have everyone back and enjoying their learning. The attitudes and respect for the learning is great to be part of: Thanks you Techno Tribe.

Please remember every night you should be reading either the book we read together or one from your group book box and practicing your basic facts. These study session will help you improve and set up great habits for intermediate!

Check in next week as we are looking into narratives, registering for mathematics challenges, and of course more reading!!!

Hello All,
A Techno Tribe Term 3 letter has gone home this week, I thought I'd put another copy here for your information.

Techno Tribe Term 3
Thursday 1 August

Kia Ora Parents and Caregivers

Welcome back to Rowandale School for Term 3. I will be the teacher for the wonderful techno tribe this term while Miss Rosser is away. I graduated from Waikato University and have moved to South Auckland from Morrinsville. I am really excited to be here and to look forward to our busy term, full of learning and achievement! I hope that you had a relaxing and refreshing two-week break and that the students are excited to come back to school and continue learning.

For your information here are a few notices:

Conferences: In Week Two we will be holding Parent/Teacher conferences. I am really looking forward to meeting you and having meaningful conversations about your child’s learning. This one on one communication is extremely valuable so please let me know if you cannot make any of the allocated times and we can arrange another time to meet.

Homework: At the start of the year your child received a bright orange book bag that is clearly named. Thank you for taking the time to check they are bringing this home each night and reading a book. After they have read please continue to sign their homework notebook and remind them to bring it back to school.

Uniform: It’s always great to see the students dressed in correct uniform. As we continue through winter it will be important for the students to wear a jumper to school. Please make sure that each uniform item is clearly named so your child can take care of their belongings. If your child is not able to wear their school uniform for whatever reason, please provide a note explaining why.

Fundraising: This year we will be going on another camp adventure in Term 4. Thank you to everyone who helped with the fundraising events in Term One and Two. Once again we will be holding numerous fundraising events this term and we really look forward to your support with these activities.

Class Blog: At the start of the year Claire Rosser created a class blog to post about our learning in class. The link to this page is: http://room18technotribe.blogspot.co.nz/ . Here I have introduced myself and I look forward to reading your comments too!

If you have any queries about this information or school in general please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards,

Letitia Voss

Healthy Lunch Boxes

It is so very important to have the energy to learn and a healthy lunch box is an easy way to do this. A letter will be going home today giving ideas and an example of a healthy lunch box.
I look forward to seeing those fruit, sandwich and vegetable filled lunch boxes.
